Five differences that matter
Our free plan has no meter, because it costs us nothing.
Cloud dictation costs the company money every time you speak, so free tiers get metered. Fastspoken's free plan runs on your phone's own chip. Your words cost us nothing, so we do not count them.
Offline is the default, not a mode.
Airplane, dead zone, locked-down site wifi: the free plan behaves exactly the same, because there is no server in the loop to lose.
Your words are unstorable, not just unstored.
A privacy setting is a promise. An architecture is a fact. On the free plan your audio never leaves the device, and on every plan our servers have no transcript column. We meter Pro by word counts, never content.
Sentences land whole, on a steady beat.
Fastspoken commits a finished sentence about two seconds after you pause, right at your cursor, with no words rewriting themselves while you watch. A rhythm you can trust matters more than a burst you can't.
Built and tested on hard speech.
Fastspoken's on-device engine scores 96.4% on our hard-speech test set of accents, noise, and spontaneous speech, ahead of the large cloud-grade model it replaced. We have not benchmarked Wispr's engine, so we will not pretend to know its number. We just publish ours.
Where Wispr Flow wins today
Fair is fair. Wispr Flow ships on Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android right now, speaks 100+ languages, and has the enterprise checklist: SOC 2, HIPAA options, team dashboards. If you need those today, it is the more complete product. Fastspoken is earlier and narrower on purpose: one platform at a time, done properly, private by construction. If that trade reads right to you, you are who we built this for.
